pphaneuf: (Sleepy Head)

Yesterday morning, I was driving on a back-road, and I found myself missing someone, wishing I could have a chat with her. You know, just to get news. Before sunset, I had my wish granted: she contacted me, out of the blue. *grins*

After sunset, went to see V for Vendetta with the lady [livejournal.com profile] azrhey, which was great. While I found the directing of the movie itself not to be the best (was all adequate, not really a point against, but I have seen much better, and everything else was so good), Hugo Weaving's performance as V was awesome and had much style. The writing was excellent, but maybe it's only because I particularly like this combination of old and new, with the flamboyantly written Shakespearian lines (such as his introduction to Evey) and the terse, minimal, but solid deliveries (such as when he comes to kill Dr Surridge).

You have the graphic novel around? I'd love to read it... [livejournal.com profile] jwz didn't seem too appalled, and he's usually easily irritable. :-)

Yeah, I wasn't too impressed with the love story part, but they didn't bloat it out of proportion or make it too lovey dovey either.

My main disappointment is with the rather plain photography. The stylishness and artfulness of V just called for some lush and beautiful photography, I think. But that's hard to ask for: "Hey you, be awesome!" ;-)
