I have to admit being a bit intrigued sometimes by the people who have been friending me. My interactions with [livejournal.com profile] blueelf13, for example, have been limited to saying "hi" and "oh, you have an iBook", that's about it. Of course, as is my own personal habit, I friended her when I met her (I use my friends list mostly as a list of people I have met in person, with very few exceptions). She didn't reciprocate, quite understandably (my policy isn't so common around LiveJournal users, it would seem). But now, months after I've met her, for (what I think is!) the only time, a certain number of months ago (not even sure), she's friended me.

What did it? My long rambly rants whining about the design of iTunes and the Mac OS X toolchain? My briefer, but cryptic reports of what I have done during the day, including toilets, fencing, sausages and funny compiler warnings? Does she want to put a $20 in my buttcrack too (a tip to everyone interested: it's free, just ask nicely!)? This seems more and more dubious, as I look into it. Oh well.

Do not go and think I've got something against people friending me (she seemed cool, from what little I've seen, I like the blue hair), but I'm curious by nature, I like to know how things work and how people think.

Now, there's also the case of [livejournal.com profile] heatherdmac. One day last Novembar, she left a comment, asking if she could friend me (I understand this is not so uncommon, but I find it odd). She's from Kentucky. She likes the color pink, shoes, shopping, new country music and Johnny Depp. Now, okay, while I do like Johnny Depp, the rest is quite... odd. Then, just as mysteriously, she unfriended me. Poof.

I ran an AppleScript over my whole music collection in iTunes that adjusted the meta-data for my Ogg Vorbis files. I can now use iScrobbler and the "Get Music" feature of Xjournal (when I use it) without letting out strings of swear words. But it took about 40 minutes and nearly turned my Powerbook into a puddle of molten aluminium. Note to self: do not run this thing every day.

The simple answer? Because I only check my friend list, and who has friended me every few months, and only JUST noticed you had friended me. I added everyone who had added me, that I remembered meeting. There ya go. I ususally read someone only after the are on my friends list. So I'm reading you now. I'm entertained by this post. :)

Ahh, I see! So it's not my so-called "funny" compiler warnings that did it. Oh well.

So you actually have a similar policy as mine, just a wee bit laggy. I use this thingy sometimes to keep track of my (ahem) LJ-fame.
