Taking a bath and not-so-light reading
Jul. 16th, 2005 02:11 amYesterday, I took a bath. It was a great goodness. Just lie back and float as I relaxed...
Today, I walked around downtown with
azrhey. After stopping at Indigo and Chapters (where we were reminded of the Potter madness), I grabbed myself Scott Meyer's excellent Effective C++, 3rd edition. Scott Meyer, by the way, wins the prize for silliest haircut to have on the backcover of a book released in 2005 (or this decade). Ow, that hurts.
I decided to put a hammer to my computer and do some massive clean up, including figuring out a strategy for upgrading it to new fancy distributions with only one hard drive in day to day use (SuSE, the distribution I use, does support upgrading, but I find that I get more new goodies if I install from scratch, so let me play with my candy!). Installing GNOME (or other "modern environment) packages is depressing, as always, as the "gdm" package eventually depends on "metacity", which makes no sense at all, IMHO. Oh, what I'll do for eye candy...

But, daaaamn, is it ever nice to relax and let the water soak you through...
