My cheeks hurt!

Awesome birthday dinner! My favourite people were there, and were involved in a collaboration that ended with me smashing my face against a chair at Bières et Compagnie. I was french kissed by musicdieu, which was quite the experience. I ended up going home after rather than doing something else, but you have to understand, I had gifts to unwrap...


ryss_rhiannon, azrhey and ayria at my birthday party. I'm probably not allowed to even think of complaining about that evening!

Saturday was also made of wonderful things. Just lying in bed, with the window open to the soft sound of the rain outside, it was lovely.

Then I accompanied azrhey to her high school reunion, which was quite interesting and funny. I felt a bit out of my element, in one of those hipster "lounges" on St-Laurent, where I'd be expected to order a martini or something. I looked on the ground twice, the first time I found a ticket for a free drink, and the second time I found a twenty dollar, so I actually netted a profit for the evening! There was much gawking at various hot people, followed by a hasty retreat back home which was made that much less hasty by my incredibly inane path choices. I decided that going down St-Denis, then west on Maisonneuve would be good. Yes it would. Any time there isn't the Just For Laugh festival preparations on St-Denis and the Jazz Festival blocking off Maisonneuve entirely, it would. Gah.

I heard from someone I've met at Bibi's birthday party, saying he found me rather open minded, for not minding azrhey commenting with him on the hot guys, and also for actually joining in and making my own comments on the said hot guys. On one hand, I feel as this is just how it should be, but still I am rather flattered that someone noticed. Don't you think that even if I was exclusive, there's a difference between making a comment that someone is hot, and going and humping them? And likewise for me commenting as well, I can do that without developing ideas of humpage (sorry azrhey!). People are strange.

Today, I'll go and fix my showerhead, which I almost broke (it's got a crack on the side, complete with a small jet of water coming out of it!), and maybe examine Rémi's latest insanity, a two-seater Virtua Racing arcade machine in his basement.

Don't be silly, both you and thebabynancy were missed, although with both of you around, I would have had a harder time getting the hot chick action (more competition!).

There was a lack of Stéphane Lajoie, as well (who was supposed to come, but missed out, apparently), and I wouldn't have spit on Rémi being able to make it, but meh, that's how it is sometimes...

People are often insecure and nervous about talking openly about such things. I can understand if someone would get hurt if their significant other(s) are always talking about how gorgeous everyone else are. But, like you, I fail to see why a girl can't say "Wow, he's hot!" without her SO getting angry or whatnot.

And something that appears to be even worse is when a guy actually says "Wow, that man looks great!" That kind of thing tends to draw odd looks even here in the fairly openminded little fairy tale country.

Now, with that being said I do believe it would be appropriate to direct a fair amount of well deserved flattery in the general direction of the trio of lovely, young ladies in the picture. What I like best about the picture is that they just seem happy. That is a good thing.

what always kills me are straight men who say they are incapable of seing if another man is good looking or not. I mean a blind person can see who is better looking between, say Prince Charles and Brad Pitt ? ( not that I find Brad that good looking myself, but really! ). Perhaps men are jsut too insecure in general.

I can understand if someone would be always doing it, yes, but I'd also quickly point out that I am with them, am I not? (or are they not? or something appropriate!)

What made the comment a bit more flattering and/or surprising I think was that it originated from a gay guy, at a party where most of the guests are gay or lesbians. So it wasn't really drawing odd looks that a guy said things like that, but that a (mostly) straight guy did so was surprising.

And the flattery is certainly well deserved. I'll also let you know that they are also plenty mischievous. As ayria and azrhey were poking and tickling me to death, the latter told me "I haven't heard you asking us to stop, haven't I?", to which I replied that it was most likely because I didn't ask them to stop! :-)

Well, azrhey had a mostly red flowery dress, actually. ayria was wearing black, her color of hatefulness (as opposed to red, the color of anger), but ryss_rhiannon, I don't know, you'd have to ask her.
