Time, how I hate you
Jun. 16th, 2005 05:48 pmSeems like I'm about to burst a gasket. I want to stop running. There's so many things I need or want to do, but so little time to do it. I want time with myself. I want time with certain people. I need to get more work done. I want to go to some Fringe shows. I want to go out speeding on a tandem bike (and also to go out on my regular bike). I need to do laundry. I have appointments. I'd like to stay up all night and sleep during the day.
Right now, I'm just slamming stuff in my schedule. Maybe I should be working instead, but I really want to go to Québec this weekend, so screw it, I'm just going. Maybe I should be working tonight, but there's a ticket to a Fringe show on my desk, and I'm just going. I've just done some much needed laundry (need to do it during daytime, because it's large and I don't have a dryer).

Date: 2005-06-16 10:39 pm (UTC)It is easy to say do not spend when there is little information about the situation.

Date: 2005-06-16 11:25 pm (UTC)hub jsut had the badluck of being the third person today to say "you're broke? but you dont even pay rent!"
as if no rent = no expenses.
in fact the only thing that annoys me mroe than "you're broke? but you dont even pay rent!" is " you're broke? but you don't even have kids!"
meh.

Date: 2005-06-17 02:51 am (UTC)We struggle...1 job paying for 5 people, but it was a choice we made and we accept it...it's just hard for people to understand...not me, I see single friends worse off than I am :)

Date: 2005-06-17 03:02 am (UTC)I budget and get all my stuff paid on time, i am not badly off, not by a long shot, but ther eare medical and legal expenses I am incurring that make a huge hole on my income ( which contrary to popular beleif is not that high ).
so yeah, it annoys me because some people assume that rent and kids are the only big expenses one can have.
MEH.
Not a good day for me.

Date: 2005-06-17 03:40 am (UTC)I do believe that w/o having to pay rent or for the needs/wants of children... one should be able to budget for their day-to-day living w/ minimal angst.
You're right, they are not the only big expenses people can have... like anything else...
I think what annoys me... is that there are those that incur voluntary expenses.. . stuff that they do not need... but rather want... those impulse purchases or instant gratifications... even elective medical expenses, i.e. laser eye surgery... and then say that they are broke.
I understand... but sympathy is not in my vocabulary today apparently.

Date: 2005-06-17 03:57 am (UTC)but hidden expenses aside, I still don't understand.
yes it is a conscious choice, i sacrifice some going out some restaurant some small expenses to have a big one instead.
Not looking for sympathy here, at all. I am not really broke I jsut spend the money on stuff I really want instead of stuff I just want a bit. Just some kind of understanding that some people can still not have enough money to go out eventhough they don't have rent/kids.
To paraphrase someone a couple of weeks ago "I have two kids and can still go to the restaurant at least twice a week, you don't have kids, why can't you?"
MEH
would it be better if I said I had to cut down on certain expenses so i could afford others, instead of saying I am broke ( which in my head means not enough money for all I need to get done )?

Date: 2005-06-17 08:38 am (UTC)Now, though, my main issue is having exactly one showing of Fou de Shakespeare, which I really wanted to see, at 20:15 saturday (it lasts 50 minutes), but it's not looking too good, considering party at bibi... Stupid lack of time! *hateful*
There's a few others shows I wanted to see. …and on and on and on and on… is friday at 14:45, I'll just go! A Girl's Guide To Screwing Herself has a show friday at 23:30 and one saturday at 17:00, maybe I'll be able to slice it in somewhere?
My finances aren't too brilliant either, so payment of slave labour will have to be in nature. 8-)
