Meme'ing today, from [livejournal.com profile] wlach's entry...

1) Total number of books owned?

Not that many. Between 50 and a 100? Mostly technical books.

2) The Last Book I bought:

Hofstaeder's "Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid", as a gift.

3) The Last Book I read:

"Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?", by Philip K. Dick.

4) Books that mean a lot to me:

Aherm, "Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid"... :-)

Also, "The New Hacker's Dictionary", for a number of sentimental reasons.

A number of books have influenced me, and some others I treasure because of their origins, but these are those that score on both counts.

5) Tag five people and have them fill out this poll:

[livejournal.com profile] ayria, [livejournal.com profile] azrhey, [livejournal.com profile] emjayne, [livejournal.com profile] kinetik710 and [livejournal.com profile] skjalm.

Too tired to do this one right now (numbers 4 and 5 require me to think ;-) but I'll do it sometime tomorrow. For now I'll just note that the last book I read was actually Philip K. Dick's "Minority Report" short story collection...

Bookses :)

Am reading "Science and the Craft"
and Jules Verne - Paris au XXe siecle

4) Books that mean a lot to me:

Jacqueline Carey - Kushiel's Dart / Kushiel's Chosen / Kushiel's Avatar (it's a trilogy)

Everything by Maurice Leblanc (Arsene Lupin), Dumas and Balzac.
Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles (From Interview with the Vampire to Blood Canticle, so far)

Kernighan and Ritchie, eh? If I had anything to do with this, I'd make "The Practice of Programming", by Pike and Kernighan mandatory reading for every single programming-related degree.
