Since I am the most timely person in the world, here's some photos of our bedroom here in Toulouse before (complete with fuchsia!) and after (complete with three freakin' laptops, if our place burns down, look no further!).

Since yesterday was a Tuesday, we had BURGER!

I also published a few photos of the train station I now go to when I go to work (where the rails sleepers aren't wood but concrete!), some half-assed attempt at art and the funky diesel TER train that picks me up daily (no electric outlet in those, [livejournal.com profile] swestrup!).

Concrete rail ties let them do continuous welded rail, whereas over here we tend to have distinct pieces of rail that go ca-chunk when the wheels go from one to another.

I bet you have a much smoother ride as a result. No gaps in the rails.

Indeed. And it allows for TGVs!

Nice... except the TER train photo is too dark. It can really use some levels adjustment.

Also... you still suck.

It's actually closer to what it looked like, annoyingly enough, since it's so stupidly early.

Also, I'm on a Mac and I think my gamma is way up, so it might actually be worse for you...

Yea, 'cause I too am on a Mac, and I thought the TER photo was great.

Actually, they're all great, and I am insanly jealous. I need a photography class, when I can find the time and the money.

You should check out [livejournal.com profile] jul3z's [livejournal.com profile] vividperspectiv, I've rather envious of her talent myself!

Also, my photos get fed to LiveJournal as [livejournal.com profile] pphaneuf_flickr, if I recall correctly...

Yup, just went back

What a coincidence.. I have exactly the same bed + rolly table thing as you. And I've had 3 laptops on mine at times as well. Weird.

It would seem we are both decadent nerds.

I did mention that it was only worth checking if you rode an ELECTRIC train, didn't I?

Actually, on the same line, at a few other times, there was another model of TER train, made by Bombardier, that did have outlets, as well as better and more storage for bikes, while still being diesel. In exchange, the brakes on those are incredibly noisy. Oh well.

I'd be surprised if the train you rode in Canada was electric, no? Generally, diesel trains don't drive the wheels directly, but instead run the engine at optimal speeds against a generator, and use electric motors to drive the wheels... Man, clutching on a train would be hardcore!

The two-mountains commuter train is completely electric. It gets its power from an overhead line via a pantograph, and there's a point halfway along the daily commute where it changes from one power station to the next where all the lights go out and it runs on batteries (or maybe just coasts, I'm not sure) for a block or so.

It's the only entirely electric train in Canada, if I'm not mistaken.

Jebus, you happen to ride the one freakin' electric train in Canada, gah!
