Was in a bit of a funk Sunday and Monday. Monday morning, I could hardly scrape myself off the bed, and I'm talking "relatively to my usual", so it's a miracle I even reached work. Which I didn't stay at for too long, wasn't feeling good at all (had a meeting in the afternoon, which I felt was the longest of my life, and took off right after). But upon getting home, got progressively better, and by the time I went to bed, seemed the be all right. Was much easier to get up the following days, and not feeling like crap.

There was nothing big in particular to cause this, I think annoying stuff was just piling on, and just reached a point where it was too much. Heck, I haven't seen most of my friends for three months now!

But I know that sensation, of not wanting to do anything, of not taking good care of myself, of not being able to gather interest in anything... Good old depression. Bleh.

So I'm trying to be pro-active and not let myself fall into that trap. Take care of myself, find my issues and get them solved, and keep an eye on myself... I'll try to write more here, as it often helps me pinpointing my issues (thanks for suffering through that drivel, for those still reading!).

On another note, the battery in my laptop was on Apple's list of "might explode at any moment", so I have to keep my laptop plugged in at all time until I receive the replacement battery. This is most inconvenient, as I now have the train pass which allows me to do most of my commute by train, having about 20-25 minutes of time on the train. I could totally catch up on my feeds and stuff, but I have to leave my laptop at home. Boo!

It's really my laptop I want to be carrying, to do stuff like read my feeds, write LJ entries and code. Okay, I could code on your small laptop, with the Visual C++ I installed, but I've mentioned the "chewing glass" feeling I get from that development environment before, haven't I?

I could fix it by putting Linux on it, but power management on Linux isn't up to par and often ends up eating through batteries in half the time it does in Windows. Eurgh.

I guess I'll fix it, one way or another... :-)

Aw. I was hoping to come over for a visit in the early fall, but it's looking unlikely: I don't have a passport, then I lost my birth certificate trying to acquire a passport. Stab.

Haha, well done! Re-acquiring a birth certificate and a passport isn't that long (relatively speaking), maybe a month, but that probably pushes you past "early fall". Oh well. Stab indeed.

The electric commuter train on the Two-Mountains line has secret electrical outlets under every third or fourth seat. I wouldn't even know about them if I hadn't seen someone with their laptop plugged into one.

Have you made a thorough search of the commuter train you ride?

I have not, I'll check it out tonight. Although, technically, I'm wouldn't be supposed to let it draw power from the battery, and sleeping does draw some power (runs out in something like two weeks, if I'm not mistaken).

I might install Linux on [livejournal.com profile] azrhey smaller laptop and steal it from her or something. ;-)

After reading this post, I thought I better check the serial number of my PowerBook G4 battery. I had heard about the Dell recall, but had no idea Apple computers were affected as well.

As it turns out, my battery is also on the list of "might explode at any time". I'm so pissed!

But thanks for mentioning it. :(

Oh well...

From what I understood, you can leave the battery in it and use the laptop, but it has to be always connected to wall power. Sleeping would counts as using it, annoyingly enough.

You may wish to remove the link to your your defunct Advogato diary from your LJ userinfo page (or at least mention the fact that it's merely an archive at this point).
