Today, I went on a few errands, to try and improve my fancy futuristic lifestyle and how good I look in nice pants (AKA, see about fixing my cell phone or replacing it with a Treo, and getting a belt clip for my phone). I had to go to a few stores, due to general suckiness and my phone being ever so slightly old.

Apparently, there was a conspiracy to have only the very hottest salespersons help me.

Just a note to those behind this (because it cannot just be a coincidence): you can keep it up, no problem.

Edit: oh, and I forgot that I'll have to deal with my hot superintendant soon. Awesome. :-)

Some Rogers and cell phone accessories stores, on Ste-Catherine near Peel and in the Place Montreal Trust. Stopped by Metro-Video on the way too. Hotness all around.

When I was at RIM, we have lots of Treos lying around. The hardware guys run tests on them and talk about how much the BlackBerrys are better :)

That said I can see myself buying a Treo as long as it works on Linux (not sure how long that would be in the light of the Palm/MS thing), but not a BlackBerry.

It would be a 650, and it would be locked to Rogers. I've asked about having it unlocked, since I'll be moving to France, and the hot saleswoman was telling me that unlocking the phone functionality should be doable, unlocking the data communication part (GPRS and such) could be trickier or just not possible.

Should work nicely with Linux, right? JPilot and the usual?

Did I mention the part where they're all hot females? No? Well, there you go! ;-)

The Treo 650 they have still runs PalmOS 5, which can do a number of things: there's software to deal with it on Linux, and it can run software that can play Ogg Vorbis files.

I hope the screen is better than the Tungsten E, 'cause I broke three of those. ;-)

Whoa whoa whoa. Your superintendant is hot? And female? You must be the luckiest man alive. I thought apartment superintendants were required by law to be surly, paunchy, middle-aged men.

(actually I lie, my current super is a quite friendly outgoing skinny guy, but he's still a guy, and still not hot).

Boy, is my superintendant a hot female. I had a call from her once that she'd drop by to pick up a rent check, and since the landlord had hired her only recently, I had never seen her, only dealt with the previous guy. A bit later I open up the door, my mouth didn't actually form words, I raised my hand with the cheque, she took it, thanked me and left, and I was still trying to babble something in the door.

Hot. As in, hot.

Remembering that time made me think that if I didn't have something broken already, I think I'd sabotage something to lure her back here, or something... :-)

I have a 600, but it works fine with linux using jpilot and such. I'm sure the 650 would be the same.

A little bit of Googling should show you that it's now quite possible to unlock a 650 completely. I think this is a pretty recent devlopment, but 600s have been easily unlockable forever basically.
