Tick tick tick...
Jul. 29th, 2005 11:55 amA bit annoyed at the lack of time. There's all these things at work I'd need to put my hands in, but I can't, so I have to just stay back and watch. Lack of time at home too. Was a bit sleepless yesterday, took advantage of that to work a bit on an IDL compiler for XPLC (not surprisingly, libIDL leaks like a sieve).
Have to finish cleaning up my apartment. Have to finish editing photos for
weaselnation. Have to finish cleaning up my hard disk so I can upgrade my system. Have to renew my passport. Have to get a job in France. Have to...
Otherwise, going fine.

Date: 2005-07-29 04:06 pm (UTC)unless you want to work the suit-slavers... being contractor during 10yrs in a bank, treated like shit by the bank because you are just a contractor, and being treated like by your employer because you are just a wastable and replacable cash-cow.
That's all you'll get there. Trust me.

Date: 2005-07-29 05:49 pm (UTC)The fully stated goal was "continental European country where I speak at least one of the official languages". I liked Germany and would have like to learn german for the year, but I don't think I'll have time. Work permit is tricky, also. Belgium was also on the list, but work permit is tricky too. I would have liked Ireland, some good work there and I like the place, but not continental Europe. Ditto for England (and I'm not sure I'd like that place so much). That pretty much leaves France. The theory is that with all the EU stuff, once I manage to get in one of the countries, it shouldn't be too hard to go to some of the other countries I wanted to go, so if I learn enough german in two years, I might move there then.
