Surprising evening
Jun. 1st, 2005 03:29 amWent to Old Dublin tonight, had a lot of fun with
azrhey (and J!),
blacksquiggles,
miseri,
swestrup and
taxlady. Came out of that with all the body parts I had on the way in, which is pretty good, in my book.
After that, I felt like walking around and taking photos, so I headed toward my place, remembering that
emjayne mentioned being at Grumpy's with some other people, thought I'd stop there on the way. Ended up staying until 2am, practicing my rusty-but-once-good candid photography skills (timing is everything!) with a bunch of willing subjects. Taking good photos of people while they're talking is all about timing, and I found myself annoyed at the shutter lag on my 20D (which is actually excellent, but it's still there!). Canon needs to make a rangefinder with their 20D innards, obviously. :-)
Now, time to hit the bed.

Notably missing from the photos is
don_teo, and two others who were also there later on.

Date: 2005-06-01 01:30 pm (UTC)It was wonderful to have you join the ever-evolving Grumpy's circle. Any group that can leapfrog from LARPing (in an elevator in San Jose) to severe geektalk to fish breeding (& German and Thai colleaugues' badly translated emails on the subject) to photography to the 14 day Starbucks construction plan is all right in my books.

Date: 2005-06-01 10:59 pm (UTC)It'd be wonderful to meet you. Now that the weather's warmed up, there are few things more pleasant than spending a few hours sitting on a terrace, sipping a drink and chatting with new, interesting, and intelligent people.
