Today, I'm back home before 10pm. Whew, that had been a long time! I've solved a bunch of crazy bugs and I'm back on schedule.

Now I'm eating a (extra-hot, alledgedly, but that's a stinking lie) capicollo and havarti sandwich, having a beer, being lazy at my computer. I might butcher Rhythmbox a bit.

Life is good.

Is there a way for you to use Win32 type applications? If so, you might want to get your hands on Fruity Loops. It's used by many professionnal DJs to produce release quality beats of all kinds. It's a very challenging piece of software to master but it can create every single thing you could think up through it's various sound synths (it has the 303 and 404 consoles). Having at least one keyboard is a plus. There is another popular tool to create professionnal grade music which recently released a newer version of their software, the problem is that I can't remember the name. None the less, all the people I know in the industry stil prefer Loops. You can check it out here with the demo version

Rhythmbox isn't a beat software, unlike what the name might lead you to think. It's a music player, with a UI that clones that of iTunes. Here's a screenshot, for an idea.

It's got a UI that is closer to what I want than XMMS, the player I used before (a clone of Winamp 2), but it has a bunch of annoyances as well.

Annoying problems like for example the deadlock it went into just now, as I was importing the music I ripped yesterday in it's library...

I guess that's why I have the fucking source code... ;-)
