My boots have been suffering from attention deprivation for quite some time-- I think they're on the verge of a physical breakdown (as evidenced by the small, but growing holes in the toe). Giving them some belated nurturing now would only delay the inevitable outcome, not prevent it.
They had a good 5 year run, which is certainly longer than that of any computer I've owned. I can't complain too much.
Consider taking them to the repairshop. You'd be amazed how long a good pair of boots can last.
I'm dreading getting some new ones a bit. For one, it'll be somewhat expensive, and second, it seems that the army isn't using leather boots anymore, they're synthetic stuff. The pervert in me wants leather! ;-)
A friend has a pair of those - the good news is that they're both waterproof and blood-pathogen proof. Good thing too - you wouldn't want to be running around with non-blood-pathogen-proof boots.
