Which One Came First?

We did the DST switch-over recently, which is, of course, accompanied by some ranting on my part. Personally, I like it when, in the case of event A preceding event B, the time at which event A happened is before the time at which event B happened. You know, causality and other space-time continuum issues...

So did this mother. Heh.

That's what time_t is for!

I'd be content with a constant offset from UTC. I don't think that's being too unreasonable, no? It's not like I'm asking for totally crazy shit!

That's retarded. That's like saying baby B was born first because they were on a boat that crossed between time zones before the birth. 1:32 EST comes before 1:06 EDT - what's so complicate about that?

It's quite retarded, yes. I like to think that I'm a whimsical person at heart, but some things aren't supposed to jump around wildly, to the whims of a bunch of guys in government, for altogether wrong reasons (the Department of Energy recommended against it, if I remember, but they had too much whiskey that day, I guess?)...

*flashback to 9th grade math*

you made my brain hurt. :P

Expected more this year

I expected a bigger rant than ever this year, seeing as they changed the change-over date. It's like you aren't into it too much... Are you getting sensible?!

I am sensible, it's all those people who keep twiddling their clocks at the whim of weird politicians, for who knows what nefarious purposes (because it's pretty clear that the "saving energy" thing is a sham, after the data gathered this year and at the time of the Olympics in Australia).

To slightly paraphrase The Hitchhiker's Guide: "Time is an illusion, DST doubly so!" ;-)

Maybe DST is simply an attempt at making sure people don't become completely lethargic by at least forcing them to thinking twice per year?

Which One Came First?

The father, obviously.
